Interesting. Maybe those have a brighter light than what's in my goose neck lamp. I'll take a look at that idea, too.

Thanks so much,

Thank you for your idea. What watt do you use? Does it light up instantly or is there lag time as there is in some of the cfl lights?

Oops, forgot to respond to your question about the Studio Color Wheel. Here you go:

I bought it from alibris.com, but it is available from many stores, including amazon.com, etc. I bought it at alibris.com because it was the least expensive at the time. I like that it is double sided and has two different views. I have found it to be quite helpful.

It retails for $9.95, but can be found cheaper at some places. For instance, the first seller listed at alibris.com is selling it for $5.83 plus shipping. I

Hope this helps,

I have a couple of shop lights hanging from the ceiling. They are inexpensive, about 7-10 dollars at Lowe's or Home Depot. The cords are not long so you will need an extension cord to reach the outlets

Thank you for your response. That sure sounds like a budget friendly idea. Glad to hear that it's working for you. I'm putting all these ideas together, weigh the possibilities and will see which one would be the best for my situation.

Yes, that's what I have...track lighting over my sewing area and another one over my cutting area...works great for me

Screwed them in high on the wall.

These just plug in the wall and come with a built-in switchbox on the plug.

Don't really have a specific light recommendation but just an observation. With all of the white behind your sewing table, you may be getting a lot of light bounced back into your eyes. What about taping a darker piece of fabric up on the wall and seeing if that helps. If it does, you could make a more permanent change with paint.

I use an Ott floor lamp. I can move it to the spot where I'm cutting, so I don't have a shadow from the ruler itself messing up my cutting.

Part of it is your angle. because I wear glasses I have to adjust for glare off the lense from above and behind the lenses. I have found those torch lamps with the reading light and the frosted cup style shade do well for direct and indirect light depending on what I need. They can be gotten for under 15.00 at places like Walamrt especially at the beginning of school years
