I've never heard of cross stitch quilts. Can you tell me more about them? Do you have any pics? Sounds interesting!

That is absolutely beautiful. I am drooling over your fabrics. I'm glad you changed it. It is perfect. What a silly teacher. Quilting is art.

They are made up of 1 1/2" squares. Each square represents a "cross stitch". Like yours, it is on fusible interfacing with a 1 1/2" grid. Fusing the squares in place and then sewing them together. The placement of the colors is what makes it striking. There are beautiful wallhangings, quilts and borders in the book. One design for a 85"X103" quilt has 3604-1 1/2" squares. Then you need to borders on it. Of course this is the one I would like to make! The introduction in the book (Quilt in a day-"Cross Stitch" Quilts by Eleanor Burns) says the patterns were influenced by the work of Anne Champe Orr 1875 to 1946. Burns does have the book for sale on her web site.

When I teach, I will make suggestions, teach techniques, and help with any problems, but as far as fabric choices and design, I tell my students " It's YOUR quilt, you can do what you want!!!" LOL
Your quilt is beautiful...if you have not named it...I have a suggestion. After the song "I Did It My Way". I would do a label with the name before I showed it to the teacher. I think it is great to add one's own twist to their work!
