I seem to always have the backing protrude beyond the quilt top when I have finished quilting the project. Sure would like to avoid this from happening, but don't have a clue how to accomplish this, or is this common and I shouldn't worry about it. Just a fraction of the backing shows on the front. Suggestions would be appreciated. The birthing method is preferred for my charity quilts. Thanks

I do this. I cut my backing just a smidgen smaller than the front. I than sew them together with the top on the bottom so it naturally eases in. When you "birth" the quilt the backing will not show. Clear as mud? :)

Really make sure that the backinf fabric is tight and pin pin pin the layers together when sewing. Use a walking foot when stitching the layers together. You could try bringing the backing over to the front and using a s a binding. A lot less hassle.

Makes perfect sense to me. Going to do this next time I put a quilt together. Thanks for the tip.
