I have the perfect fabrics to give this a try. I will also make my own templates using a 12 1/2" ruler and a home made 10 1/2" square of plastic that my DH will cut for me.

This is going quite quickly and when I am finnished It is done! I just discovered I an short of the pansey fabric so lets keep our fingers crossed that they stil have it!! Or my quilt will be a little short!

on you templates....is the largest one about 2" bigger all the way around than the middle one? I have the pattern but not the templates

Your fun and done is just beautiful. Love the colors. Thanks for the tip about the zipper foot. I will have to try that.

Mine is 1 1/4 inches bigger all around but you could make it two that would just make your sashing 1 inch in each side =2 inches completed.

Up North, Thank you so much for the link to the tutorial. I'll have to try this, it looks like it would work up very quickly. Do you have any hints to making the template? How many inches wide did you make the outside template, (the part that gets folded in twice and sewn), is it about 2 inches? It's not that we're cheap, it's just that we'd rather spend our money on fabric, fabric and more fabric.

up north - if you run out of pansies, can you finish with a row of co-ordinating fabric all around the outside edges, as many rows as you like?
