Ok ladies I have a question. A dear friend of my husband gave me two rolls(!) of white fabric. There must be at least 10 Yards on each roll. One is 45 inches wide, the other sixty inches. Looks like 100 % cotton, feels like 100 % cotton--but I am not totally sure. It was her mother's and she sewed draperies alot. After she passed, her daughter found it in her sewing room and called and asked me if I wanted it. So I THINK I heard at one time how to tell if fabric is 100 % cotton. If you take a small piece and hold a match under or some thing like that. Does anybody know how I can find out? Thank you

I heard that if it melts it's part or more polyester. Cotton burns. Someone here will be able to tell you for sure!

Yes, if there is poly in it, it will make a hard black ball. 100% cotton burns to an ash.

I can just see my kids coming in as I hold a match to a piece of fabric. They would freak out. Think I had lost my mind. Giggle. I'm glad it is cotton. What a lucky day for you.

I used the match system to show a group of women the difference and invited them to try it. I had pans of water on the table. All of a sudden I panicked - a woman at the other end of the table was on oxygen! That shut us down right away.
