Default need suggestions for companion block for churn dash with fussy cut center.

I am working with churn dash blocks (fussy cut strawberry shortcake center) and would like to use a different block as companion block, I am planning to assemble on point. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Have considered just using solid blocks and a quilt design so that may be an option.

Churn Dash blocks can be very effective all on their own.
If it's separation you're looking for, rather than blocks, what about sashing strips?
The cornerstones could be plain or done as QSTs.

With not seeing your planned Strawberry Shortcake blocks, colour scheme, fabrics used, size, etc., it's hard to guess what would work.

You've been given some good suggestions.
I'd start by making some sample blocks and see what works best.

I would do a courthouse step block. If you use the same color for the middle of each "row" of the block, it adds a great interest to the quilt. Can't wait to see what you choose....
