Default Starmaker 8 ruler......

I found a really cute table runner pattern the other day ( if I can only find where I placed the info) but it calls for the Starmaker 8 ruler. So, I have two questions. First, has anyone used this ruler, and second, is it really necessary, or is there another way to measure your pattern pieces besides having to purchase yet another ruler that will probably never be used once a couple of table runners are completed? Thanks for your help.

I took a class at a quilt show with Kaye Woods and I remember the ruler made it much easier for the ones that bought the ruler then the ones that tried to make do with a regular ruler. Everyone decided to buy the ruler before the class was over. I've used it several times.

You can use any ruler that has the correct angle, but as a certified Kaye Wood instructor you would find more uses for her ruler than any ruler you will ever purchase. She has 3- Starmaker 5, 6, and 8. These rulers will cover all of the angles that you will ever use in quilting. The 6 & 8 will make OBW and stack and whacks easy, just to name 2. Also if you get into Kaye's patterns you will love her construction ways. Yes, I am one of her fans ...

The Starmaker 8 has a 45 degree center angle and the other two are 67.5. I do like her rulers, but there are other 45 degree triangle rulers out there. If the pattern calls for the Starmaker 8 then you will be happiest if you have a ruler with the 45 degree angle for the center.
