Default Please help...janome 6600 and 7700 advice

Hi....I have a janome 6600 and love it, really solid machine that sews beautifully.......however in my local sewing machine shop there is a used 7700 for sale.....and I am very tempted.
I could sell my 6600 and work out the difference would be a cost of about $400 dollars........I would love advice from owners of both machines and especially from anyone who has upgraded from the 6600....thank you

I think you will see more of the 7700 for sale since they have a new machine. I love my 7700 but tempted to buy the newest one.

I have the 6600 ... and would sure be sitting up taking notice if it were only a $400 difference to upgrade.
From what I understand there are a few extra perks with the 7700.
The biggest one being the 2 extra inches in the throat.

While your upgrade would be a minimal cost, which would definitely be speaking to me ... I'm always hesitant on buying used, and the problems which may come with it. Will your dealer offer you a month's warranty, so you can give it a good run and know that you have a good machine?

I would definitely look at the 8900, though the cost difference would be higher.
My understanding is that it is similar to the 7700, but much better.

And I'm hoping some others will jump in here with direct knowledge on all three.

When I was choosing which machine to buy I was directed away from the 7700 because it was "too sensitive" but that was two years ago and maybe they have designed out the glitches now.

With only a $400 difference, I understand why you're tempted! That being said, I would really want to give the 7700 a thorough workout to make sure there aren't any issues with it. I've been tempted to trade up my 6600 a few times but the difference was usually $2000 and at the time, I had heard too many negatives things about the 7700 (mostly how sensitive it was ). The larger throat is really appealing though. While you're looking at the 7700, check out the new 8900 if you can afford it. Good luck making your decision!
