I just got to thinking I don't get to be too hard on people re-purposing old things. I'm getting ready to turn an old cast iron lavabo (it looks like a cross between a utility sink and a urinal to me) into a small fountain. The difference is if anyone wants to return it to it's original use, they can.
I can still rank on their workmanship though.

I'd be willing to bet that in 1980, you would have likely had a hard time giving away a black Singer.
At least the guy made up a reasonable number. Most folks would have said it appraised for $1000+.
