Default Help With Serial Number

We purchased this machine for $25 at an estate sale. I mainly bought it for the dome shaped cabinet that is in very good condition. I have had pneumonia, stomach flu & diverticulitis for the past 6 weeks, so I am just now getting into looking at this machine. I need help with the serial number. It seems that the ismacs database doesn't list a serial number beginning with JC and this number is clearly JC. Can anyone here help with info on this machine.

I went to the website for Singer machines (just Googled it) First 2 letters according to the page states (according to the chart) JC manufactured in 1948. That is as far as I got. I'm sure those on the board who work on the machines can give you more information.

Jx serial number machines were made (or finished) in the St. Jean, Canada plant. The records were lost when the plant shut down, which is why ISMACS doesn't have serial number information on them. JC's were made starting in 1948, but JD didn't start until 1954. Since your machine is quite late into the JC series, I would estimate it was probably made around 1953.

Your machine is a 128; I really like that grape vine pattern on the face plate.
