Default My garage sale find, a Singer 301A LBOW :D

Garage sales, gotta luv 'em! I wasn't thinking the list looked too promising today but that changed when I asked about machines! Always ask! I was at a small garage sale and saw quite a bit of yarn and fabric scraps so I asked if they had any sewing machines for sale. They said "only for those that ask!" They led me into their home to find a Singer 301A in a card table! The table was strewn with assorted goodies including a zig-zag attachment, button hole maker, lots of feet, bobbins, threads and all the manuals for them too! The machine has had only the one owner and she kept it all very nice. This one was one on my list to own.

I have found more machines at yardsales by asking if they have any sewing machines or sewing machine parts, than I have from seeing them in the sale. Many times they think that the yardsale crowd probably won't be interested in a danged ole sewing machine or parts, and they have all of the other stuff to get out for the sale (interrupted by the "early birds" of course), so they either don't bring the machine out at all, or they finally get around to it later in the morning. Way to go!

Congratulations and thank you for the tip of asking! I am usually too shy to ask, but I am going to start.

weeps softly into her keyboard....
The only one I saw today was a really lovely red eye treadle in gorgeous oak stand...$500.00.

500.00! Was it solid gold?? Sheesh! I am so glad I asked, while the wife was checking on a price with her father, someone outside overheard him and sight unseen said if I don't want it, they did. I paid the lady and nearly ran to my car with it!

Ahem, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Antique-S...-/141271442999
How much would a 66 be worth new? I guess $A890 because this one does look new.

:lowwhistle: That would indeed be worth something. Certainly not in standard condition.

I thought that $250,000 machine was the best one on eBay?

That's pretty nice, but I'm not a collector or a displayer, so I'd probably opt for this one to save a few bucks.
