Default How Much Should I Offer For This?

I've got a chance to buy a Janome 1600 and Grace Frame. The lady was rather unclear as to whether it is a king or queen size frame. Her asking price was $1800. Well I got looking around the web yesterday and discovered that I could buy a new setup like this for $1899 King or $1599 Queen with free shipping. Since I would be the third owner, I am planning on offering her less. My question is how much is it really worth? She is selling it because she wants to move up to a larger setup, so I assume there isn't anything wrong with it. Do things often go wrong with these machines?

Also there is a stitch regulator with it. In many of the videos I've watched, the quilters preferred not to use the stitch regulator. Is it worth figuring in the price?

Thanks for your input, Susie

the stitch regulator would be a big selling point for me...I have the grace/juki frame and couldn't afford the regulator at th time....seemed to me it was $500 at the time

Afriend of mine bought something similar with stitch regulator. She offered $1200 and got it. Considering it is a 3rd owner machine I personally would offer $1000. I sold a set up similar to that and figured 60% of original cost was fair.

Thank you so much for your responses. I was thinking of offering $900 and bargaining from there. Does that seem all right?

I got the machine and frame ( king sized) for $1300 from the original owner. Had to buy stitch regulator separately.

I have no idea what it is actually worth -

The seller could/might do one of three things -

Accept the offer
Offer a counter proposal
Tell you to go away
