Quilting ideas around appliqued medallion?

Quilting ideas around appliqued medallion?
I made this as part of a BOM here on this board...I am ready to attempt to machine quilt the top, but I am just stuck. I have no idea how to quilt around the center medallion....I would LOVE to do some pretty feathers, but I am not there yet! Cross hatching seems too linear for this design........help!

That is beautiful. I would do a small background fill to get that gorgeous applique to pop. If you feel confident doing a small serpentine, I would mark the background with a crosshatch, small, like 1/2" grid and do Diane Gaudinski's "dianeshiko" technique.

Other nice options would be pebbles, headbands, McTavishing, even a small scale meander would work well. Small repetitive fills are not as difficult as you would think. The idea is to get that applique to pop up off the surface

That is really pretty. I have no artistic ability so can't help with quilting design. I just meander or do it how the designer did theirs. Is the medallion to small to trapunto then stipple around? I have never used this technique but would to try it.

It depends on your quilting ability of what you can do. Don't always look at cross hatching one way, you can echo with lines in the setting triangles. I would shop for a simple stencil that will fit in the square in a square center. I would like to see something nicer than just plain stippling in the peach background. Do a Google search for large background stencils and see if you can find something you like. Good Luck and be please with the results of a very lovely unique quilt.
