Default How much yardage

please help... how much backing fabric do i need for a top that is 33x44 and that will be quilted on a long arm??

Are you quilting it? If you are taking it to a long arm quilter, they will tell you how big they want the backing to be, and how to prepare it (remove selvedges etc.) so check with them. Different long arm quilters and different machines have different requirements.

That depends on the width of the fabric you are planning to use - a lot of fabrics are less than 44 inches wide -

and if/how you plan to piece the backing.

I would get 52" (or 1.5 yards of fabric). The width of the fabric will cover the 33".

My long armer requires 4" extra, all the way around.

That would be 41" x 52" for both the backing, and the batting (if you provide it.)

The lady above was right. The app shows 1.5 yards using the 33 as the with. 43" fabric with a 4" overage.

I use this app often has two colums one for quilt turned each way, I guess if you had directional fabric and wanted it to land a certain way.
