Has anyone used Pearl Pereira applique method.
I was at a retreat the last part of June and the ladies that came with us were talking about this method of applique. I went to her site and Youtube and was very interested, but just wondered if any of you had worked with it. I'm a beginner at applique and but I love the looks of it.

I knew nothing about her or her tips so I Googled and found her You Tube channel. She has some of the best tips for applique. Thanks for posting and sharing. I saw in one where she uses the sewline aqua brush syringe to fill the aqua brush. I believe a baby medical syringe for distributing oral mes would work just as well to refill the brush. right now I use a small artist paint brush. Still need to check out the pricing. Thanks again for sharing!

If you want to go to her web page it is - P3 Designs.com. She has some beautiful quilts. Right now she has a free BOM of baskets applique. I didn't find out about them till recently so will probably buy the pattern at the end of the year.

This looks very similar to cutting out light cardboard or heat resistant plastic templates and steam pressing the "seam allowance" over it. Starch is not really necessary but may help if the fold over will not hold.
I do the press-over then remove the template and spray. Then press again.

I use the same method with 2 layers of freezer paper ironed together as my template but I have never seen the little brush, I will definitely keep my eyes open for one, it would make things much easier than an old paintbrush and a jar.

Pearl has a friend trained in her method named Nancy Amidon ((am-i-DON). Google her and you'll get her website. I have watched Nancy several times at the Paducah quilt show. She is amazing and an amazing teacher! I have taken at least one of her all-day classes that she gave in the Paducah area after quilt week. I love her method and results. But I had tried other methods first like needleturn and nothing felt right until I tried her way. I just think you have to try a few ways, then decide which you feel more comfortable with.
