Ready to Learn Quilting!
Hello everyone! I'm completely new to sewing. I received a Brother computerized sewing machine for Christmas and haven't even threaded it yet. I thought my first project would be a rag quilt. My mom tried to teach me years ago but I wasn't interested then. Oh well, better late then never. Any tips for this newbie would be great!

which Brother did you get? I just bought the dreammaker 3000 and love it! Don't worry about just starting I didn't even sew till mid 50s. Lots of help here, craftsy.com has free classes and inexpensive ones. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We love to bring someone new into the fold.

WELCOME from Winnipeg, Manitoba-Canada, like others said, age has no barriers when it comes to sewing.
Everyone learns at his own pace and every quilter develops their trend of quilting. Myself I like scrap quilting
and working with very basic patterns.. I bought myself a brother machine from London drugs end of December, love it..
When I went back to purchase the embroidery machine they were all sold out.. At one time brother machines were poor quality but they have improved greatly since then.. It is a good machine for the price I paid..
Rag quilts are fun to work with, then quilt as you go is another great project for beginner.
Of course there is so many free tutorials to learn and places of reference to learn and ask, forums quilt guilds all around and some quilt shows it's overwhelming..
Have fun, enjoy take it out of the box and challenge yourself.
