I'm not sure where there are fabric stores, but enjoy the trip. There are so many things to see in D.C., that you will not have time to think about fabric stores. I have been there several times and each time, there are more things to see. The last I knew, there were 17 Smithsonian museums, the Holocost Museum, WW 11 memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and on and on. Enjoy the trip.

I used to live in Annapolis, Md., which isn't really that far from Washington DC. I'm not sure of any actual quilt shops in DC but there is Cottonseed Glory quilt shop in Annapolis. I think their address is on Annapolis St.

I live about 45 minutes from the city and have 2 close by Daffodil, and Suzzies. Suzzies is packed full, and the staff is very helpful. You probably won't find any in the city, but Maryland & Virginia suburbs probably have some.

G Street Fabrics is actually in Bethesda, MD but is easily accessbile on the Metro. Warning though!!!! Be very focused and put on your blinders. When I lived in the DC area and went to GStreet, you had to pass through the drapery/decorator fabric area. WOW!!! What a display. The very very large quilt fabric area is at the rear of the store. This store has two floors and every kind of fabric imaginable, i.e., men's suiting, shirting, remnants, wedding, faux fur, leather, etc, etc and classrooms, books, on and on and one. This should be one stop not to miss. I really do not recall any fabric stores within the District.

Jenny Beyer's studio in Great Falls, Va is really nice. When a friend and I traveled to DC we took a quilt class there and had a ball.
We spent a lot of time at Mount Vernon and the vaious Smithsonian Institutions that we didn't get time to see but 1 other quilt shop in Northern Va. Jenny Beyer's staff directed us on how to get there.
Had the weather permitted [it was cold, damp, and windy] we would have hunted down quilt exhibits in the various museums in DC.

I agree- G St Fabrics was one of my favorite places when I lived in the DC Metropolitan area. There used to be one in Va - near Dulles Airport - but it is no longer listed on the web site so Rockville Md would be it. Jenny Beyers Studio is also in No Va. Both are worth the trip. There are other shops but they are scattered about. Now, when I return to No Va, my MUST GO to store is Web Fabrics in Purciville VA (this is west of Leesburg on Rt 7). It is way off Main Street in what looks like an office building but has a wonderful selection of fabrics.
