Default Suggestions for rainbow fabrics

I've attached a photo of a quilt made with rainbow houndstooth strips in 7 different colors. I have all the strips,........but

The instructions say to sew them as shown, and I'd like something a little more interesting. What could be done with the placement to make it more eclectic?

    thanks,

    Renate

I think you could cut strips and stagger them as in a bargello.

Here is a top I made at retreat, still not quilted. After the rows are sewn together you cut sections off the sides and insert a contrasting strip. The blog I got the pattern from used a jelly roll, I just used fabric from my stash. I don't have the blog bookmarked so can't tell you the name or the designer at the moment.
I think your fabrics might look good in this design too.

Here is a blog with a similar design but wasn't the one I used. http://cluckclucksew.com/2012/07/tut...aby-quilt.html

How about appliqueing a black silouhette of something to the top and leave the strips like they are?

I would sew them in value order and do a rainbow bargello using this pattern by TT:

It looks like that pic shows a block approx. 7x5? So how are all these stripe blocks to be put together?
