Default Around and around and around.......

I finished this pattern from JeanneS, the finished quilt measuring approx. 70" x 56" and decided I would have a try at quilting a spiral. I lost count after bobbin number 8 and needle number 3 and have never been so pleased to have finished a quilt!

Wow, love your quilt and the quilting is fabulous, excellent job on both!!! I have this quilt pattern saved as on my short list to finish a few this year, it's a lovely design.

It looks terrific. Did you have much trouble with it bunching up on itself?

Well, I did have one fold/pleat in my backing which went unnoticed until I had done about 18 rounds so I had to go back and unpick about 2" of each round to fix it...totally my own fault for being too gunho and not being careful when I turned the work. To make sure that didn't happen again I got into a rhythm of using my right hand underneath to feel for a smooth backing each time I readjusted the work and I also put a clothes peg in a particular spot on the outer edge so I would know when I had sewn a complete "circuit" or two and then I would flip my work over and check what I had just sewn. The further out I sewed the easier it got.
