Default Which Styles/Colors For a Couple of Gift Quilts?

What are some recommended styles and colors to go with for a gift quilt when you don't know the recipient's taste? I'm making a couple of quilts for both of my dentists, who both recently lost their homes in the wildfires. Although, I know them well on a professional basis, I don't know what colors they would like...they're always wearing white when I see them and their office has typical, blah, office décor. One dentist is very happy and chatty all of the time and loves to travel. The other is super nice, but a bit more reserved.

I have a bright batik quilt I'm working on that might work for my "happy" dentist. The other one, I'm not so sure about...neutrals, perhaps? I need suggestions.

Thanks,
C

I believe men like deep rich colors. This is one I will give my favorite brother-in-law. The Boxed Squares pattern is very easy but can be impressive when a lot of colors are used. You can make it any size you like, as well.

The second in browns would be good for a fellow too.

I like more neutral colors when I'm not sure. At least with neutrals, they go with pretty much any decor.

That is a very nice gesture. I think honestly, at this point, anything would be greatly appreciated, and treasured. It is so hard rebuilding after such a loss.

Boston....love both those quilts. Were the quilts made from coordinated packs of squares? If so, I would like to know the names.... if you would be so kind. I am not a batik lover but that bright quilt is gorgeous.

i'm with Doggramma on this--neutrals . While my kneejerk response is to give happy dr more color, and serious dr less color, I'd be afraid to guess which colors are in their homes.

Since they are rebuilding and don't have rooms or furniture just yet I would go with any color scheme you feel suits them. It doesn't always have to match a room

Boston1954-your quilts are so pretty and I think they are both very good for a man. Tropit-I think any quilt in browns or blues would be nice for your dentists. Very nice of you to do this kind thing for them. The California fires are so tragic and a quilt would be such a nice and kind gesture.

You know, I think it's such a wonderful gesture I doubt they would care what colors you use. That is so kind and generous of you.
Having said this- I wouldn't go too bright I don't think. But again, I doubt that would matter.
Boston- those quilts are fabulous!!!!!!!!
