Default Hand Quilting Question

I've been away from hand quilting for awhile and would like to get back into it. What kind of hand quilting thread do you recommend? Where do you generally get it - at a local shop or online? I am having a hard time finding it.
Any recommendations on needles?

I prefer Gutermann’s hand quilting thread. My local fabric shop carries it.

I like C&C's, I have used it for years, in many colors. Recently tried YSL, but it kinked so badly that I went back to the Coats. I DO work with longer threads than recommended, tho, and that may have caused the kinking--but I don't experience it with my old stand by. Everyone develops their own favorites. Also, I love the smallest needle I can get, and still get the thread thru the eye.

I use Coat's and Clark too. I used to buy it at Joann Fabrics and have enough for 10 lifetimes!

I use any hand quilting thread that is the color I want for any given project. Have used Gutermann; C&C; Americana (JoAnn's store brand). I usually buy my thread at JoAnn's unless I'm in a hurry and then just pop over to the quilt shop and buy what I want there.

I also swear by Thread Heaven! Coating any of the above threads with that product before you start stitching makes the actual quilting/stitching sooo much easier and there is far less tangling. Find it works much better than beeswax.

Forgot to mention Thread Heaven! It's a great product, as NJQuilter said.

I use C&C and the group I quilt with likes to wax their thread. I have learned to do the same. No knots and easy to thread the needles. My favorite needles are Colonial size 9 (Quilting/Betweens) with large eyes.

I use Coats and Clarks too. I also use a good bees walk to run the thread over to make a smoother run with the thread. I like a larger eye on my needle too, just not to big. I have a large hoop that I use when sitting up and when lying in bed a smaller hoop. Yepper I quilt in bed too .

I love Valdani 35 wt hand quilting thread. My local LQS carries it but it can be found on line. My absolute favorite quilting needles are Roxanne needles. Betweens, size 11.
