stitch size when quilting
#3
when quilting with the walking foot I increase my stitch size to 3.5. I attach my binding with the walking foot and increase to 2.8.
If it is stitching to slow with the walking foot increase your stitch length.

As I understand it, regardless of stitch lenth, your quilt should move through with ease if the tension is adjusted properly for the thickness of the quilt. If your stitch length is teeny-tiny, the quilt will move through much slower than the length you had used while piecing the quilt top. So, take a look at the tension and see if your quilt is puckering or refuses to budge. If it is, the tension is likely too tight. Ease up on the tension and see if that works better for you. Some machines have a different adjustor for the tension for their bobbin, also.
You'll need to drop your feed dogs if you're doing free-motion quilting. Tension is not a factor in this case, and your fabrics should move through without any problems (but, then again, you wouldn't use a walking-foot with free-motion quilting).
