Robin, welcome aboard! I love the 9-patch too - see my avatar? :D :D

I was just distracted by my little guy so I can't remember who posted about Christmas fabrics, but I'd love to do one of those, so feel free to send one my way!

I could do a christmas block -- I have a couple of holiday fabrics in my stash!

Uh oh ... I'm in trouble as that's not what I thought a 9-patch was ...

This is what I thought it was:

Am I wrong?

Robin,

You're totally right!! The quilt in connie's avatar has 9patch blocks and solid blocks to give it the pattern!

one of the many reasons everyone loves a 9patch - it's so versatile

Nope, you are exactly right. I separated my 9P's with solid white squares in this quilt, which is why it looks a little more complex. Easy though - just 9P's and plain squares. Believe me, we'll love whatever you do! :-D

Shew ... good... I went through all the fabric I'd bought years ago (and I do mean YEARS ago) ... and found a bunch of fabric to turn into F8 and send out to you all ... going to take a picture and ask that ya'll tell me if any of them would be hard to use/do a block with ... I'm just trying to use the material I have ...

Robin,
If its 100% cotton it should be fine for quilting. The only other thing I would suggest is if its a first time for you is that you may not want to use directional fabrics right off (stripes for instance) as some find them frustrating id that can't get the stripes going the right directions.
