My daughter is a social worker and has 15 foster care children she supervises. I told her I will try to make each one a quilt for christmas. There are 7 boys and 8 girls ages 3-15. If any of you know of any quick big block patterns that will help me accomplish this I would appreciate hearing from you.
    Thanks
    Jan

Luckily I bought a bunch of fabric at walmart a few months ago for $1-$2/ yard in bright happy prints.

Here are some of my favorite patterns (and ones I want to try)... I put the measurements, because you might need some bigger ones for the bigger kids....

    http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransso...ice-quilt.html (38" x 53")

http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/10/boxed-in-quilt.html (50" x 50" ) -- This is a layer cake project, but would be very easy to modify for yardage...actually, it would probably be easier to start from yardage than a LC.

http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/02/...aby-quilt.html 41" x 50". ( I have made this one more than once...goes super quickly with chain piecing!)

Make them single layer fleece. Or you can make one layer fleece, one layer flannel and strip cut the edges of both and tie them together. Then just quilt whatever design you want. Fast and easy. In this case you definitely need to follow the KISS principle. Good luck.

I think I would be asking my daughter to come over and help. That sounds like a lot of work.

Go to the quilt for kids website and use their pattern. It is easy to cut, quick to put together, and easy to quilt if you are wanting to make actual quilts. I smashed two tops out in a little more than an hour by chain piecing. The quilting can be really simple diagonal lines from block corner to corner!

I would purchase panels and put a border on each one. Quick and easy.
