A friend of mine gave this to me...I didn't realize it...she gave me a bag on Monday night. She said it had a few odd and ends in it. It was dark when I moved it to my car and I didn't look in the bag or anything.
So imagine my surprise when I opened the bag last night and found this?
It is all hand pieced and ready to be finished.
This is so beautiful....but it always stresses me out on how to finish these. Do I machine quilt it...have it hand quilted? What I do know is that it does need to be finished...it needs to be a quilt. So it can be loved and treasured for it's intended purpose.... :?
Now to decide???

That's a hard one. You do such beautiful machine quilting. But a traditionalist would say if it is hand pieced it should be hand quilted.
What do you intend to do with the finished quilt? Are you keeping it and if so machine quilt something different in the paths and keep it simple in the flowers.

Gorgeous. You know, since it's hand pieced . . . ., but in the interest of saving time and since you do such beautiful work with your machine you could machine quilt it. It's not like you have to advertise how it was done. Enjoy working on it, whatever you decide.

That is so lovely! I'm a traditionalist at heart and I think it just begs to be lovingly hand quilted. Sure it takes forever to do, but that one has been laying around waiting for a long time already, so a bit longer certainly won't hurt anything. You might even find that hand quilting is great to pick up at odd moments and do to relax.

Oh my, you are so lucky. I don't know of anyone who hand quilts now days. If you could find someone that would be fabulous but if not, I think you should go ahead and machine quilt it so that it becomes a finished quilt. Enjoy.
