I thought I sent these pictures earlier but they haven't come through, so I think I probably did something wrong. Will try this again.

Using sashing with the blocks makes them look totally different.

These blocks started out as part of a 5th grade class presentation on quilting. They played with making designs as part of my presentation.

love the log cabins. one of my favorite blocks. especially like the one with light background.

I really like the Log Cabins too... I think all three are beautiful but the one called Flowers in my Cabin is stunning..

OH MY!! These are just gorgeous! :)

I love log cabin quilts, so many way to arrange the blocks for different looks. Beautiful job! :D

estheblair--I had a pattern for Flowers in my Cabin. I copied it from a book of patterns and didn't get the designer's name, although I think it migt have been a Pat Bono. Any way, the trick is that color "cubes" are put in the upper left hand corner of about half the blocks. That is what makes the smaller design in the middle of the circular quilting. I think that circular quilting really "makes" the quilt. If you want the pattern, I could send it to you. Contact me at [email protected].
The pattern was a bit tedious but it wasn't hard to follow.

Postscript on the Flowers in my Cabin pattern. The colored strips are half as wide as the white strips, so it gives an off-center look to the block.
