Look at this site: Appleblossomquilts.com. She has some good tutorials and I have been using the back-basting method now for several years and really like it. I not only draw my pattern on the back but I lightly trace it on the front over a light box after I have the pattern on the back. I use a brown pigma-pin #.01 to trace the patterns. Works great for me.
