1/2 cup Butter(only and do not soften)
2 1/2 Tablespoons sugar
1 egg beaten
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup Club Soda
1 teaspoon salt
5 cups of the homemade biscuit mix

NOTE: I always double the recipe and freeze them and that way I don't have to make biscuits as often.

preheat oven to 450 degrees (depending on your oven I only do 400 degrees.
Combine all ingredients.( I cut up the butter and then mix in the dry ingredidents and mix together until it resembles coarse cornmeal. Knead by hand until smooth.
Flour your hands and pat the dough flat to 3/4-inch. I use my pastry sheet or you can use waxed paper. Cut out
the biscuits. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

Here is something else I do when I put my biscuits on the cookie sheet to bake them I put them touching each other
and I think it makes a nice biscuit and does not spread around. I hope you can understand what I am saying.
To each his own way.

I make biscuits for my family, and I agree they do better if touching. I bake mind at 450 degrees. I use either White Lily or Southern Biscuit flour, self risiing. I fine that Butter Crisco works great.
Now I am hungry.
