Paper piecing is not hard, just a bit confusing until you realize that you are sewing through the pattern from the front, while your fabric pieces are on the back.

I had 4" size heart blocks and reduced them on my copier by 46% to 2 1/2". I numbered the sections according to the order I'd be covering them with fabric. Some patterns are already numbered. Make sure you cut your pieces of fabric a bit bigger than you'll need to avoid having them too small when you flip them back.

Place your first piece of fabric over section 1, right side up, on the unlined side of the paper. Place the fabric that will cover section 2 on top of #1, right sides together, lining up the edge. Flip the pattern over, holding tightly to the fabric pieces and sew on the line between sections 1 & 2, through the paper. Back stitch at both ends of every seam. Flip the pattern over and use your fingernail to press the fabric over.

Use something like a thin piece of cardstock to place on the line you just sewed and fold the pattern back over the cardstock to make a nice fold, and trim your fabric to 1/8" for this mini heart. Fold the pattern back all around the section you just sewed and trim all around to 1/8". Line up section 3s fabric on the edge of section 2 fabric and sew on the line like the first seam. Finger press open on the fabric side, fold back on the line and trim to 1/8". Do all the sections in order of the numbers.

When you are finished all the sections, trim all around to the outside line. I sewed an inch border around my heart and squared it to 3 inches.

Scrunch up the heart to break up the pattern and take the paper off your heart.

The paper for my card is cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, one patterned piece and one cardstock piece. Place the heart on the inside, making dots for placement, and draw lines inside the dots 1/4 inch, cut on the lines using a sharp utility knife.

Mark the placement of your heart on the inside of your patterned paper with dots. Make lines 1/4 inch inside the dots and cut with a sharp utility knife. Centre the heart in the opening and sew from the right side, catching the border of the heart in the stitching. You could try a decorative stitch.

Fold both papers in half, and coat the cardstock with glue stick, then place the papers together, making the edges even. Flatten under a book until dry. Voila! A cut little card!

Thank you sooooooo much Janie. This is amazing. Now couple of questions:

1- After the pieced heart is ready did you sew it on the cardstock or the plain or the decorative one?

2- If I want to print somethin on the card when would i do that? or is it better just to hand write inside the card? or maybe you even have a totally different idea !!!!!!!
I was thinking to go to Michael's and see if they have some sort of very thin kind of transparent paper where i can print and then stick it to the inside!!!!!!!!!
