So many of you have asked about the border in my "painting for a quilt" post, that I am posting this tutorial.

You need rectangles: 5 5/8" x 2 1/4"
and for triangles, 2 5/8" squares cut diagonally into triangles

Line up the corner of the triangle with the corner of the rectangle

these are easy to chain-stitich

Line up another triangle with the opposite corner of the rectangle

Press seams toward triangles and trim points

the points of each piece should "stick out" about 1/4 "

trim the long edges and here's your finished piece

Thanks for sharing. I was wondering about your border, but thought it was to complex for me. You made it look much easier. I'm going to try it.

Thank you for taking the time to put this together and share with us. I've tried the technique before and was not totally successful. This provides the encouragement that I need to try it again. I went back and looked at your quilt and I think that the person you traded with got a good deal, also. Hope that you were both happy with your trade.

wow, love the tute, and have lots of fabrics I could use. Might even try some of my huge collection of fruit and veggie fabrics. Thank you
