Easy Prairie Points

I posted a photo of a quilt I made out of a Panel for my 7th Grandson. It seems everyone loves the Prairie Points so much that I thought I would write down what I did. I am also posting the pictures of the quilt again so you can see.

Easy Prairie Points
Cut 2 ½” squares—Try to use either the fabrics in the quilt or the colors in the quilt.
Using a steam iron, Fold and press each square diagonally.
Again fold diagonally and press well. You now have a prairie point.
Lay the points around the quilt until you are satisfied with the layout of them. They will overlap slightly so make sure you have enough. When you are happy with the look, place each prairie point with the point facing to the center of the quilt and the outer edge lined up with the outer edge of the quilt (you will be adding a border or borders to this). The bottom edge of the prairie point should just overlap the next prairie point. Pin the points in place. Baste the points. (I am not into basting so I just go on to the next step). Lay your border matching the raw edge of the quilt with the border, having the prairie points sandwiched in between. Attach the border as you normally do.
When you are pressing the border sections you are also pressing so the points are now facing to the outside of the quilt. When quilting, I like to run a straight stitch at the base of the prairie points so they will stay facing outward. I also lift each point to quilt under them.

Such a dellightful quilt! Have a niece due in June and now I know what I'm going to use, but will change colors to be a little more feminine. Do realize that the bright colors are great for little ones. Will see what I can find in pinks, greens, yellows. What size did you make this?? Love the prairie points. They really caught my eye.
