I refigured the paper templates for the Wings Block.
This is the right size for making a 2 1/2" Wings block and a 1 1/2" Wings Block

This is NOT paper piecing.

Any questions don't hesitate to let me know!

Rhonda, thank you so much for doing this in a pdf file. So many times they are in Word and I can't access them. Thanks again for all you do!

You're welcome. I don't have Word I have Works and I can't access anything from Word either. PDF files are just easier to do for me.

Thanks Rhonda. I just finished my red and white quilt for the Doll quilt swap and used your templates to make the wing blocks. I used your Grace block to make the doll quilt. Turned out pretty well, not perfect. Still need practice. This would make the process of making the wing block easier I think I will have to have a go at making them again.

cjomomma 03-18-2011 04:19 AM

Thank you Rhonda. I'm gonna go print these out.

Rhonda 03-18-2011 07:08 AM

Actually the original paper templates I did would work fine for the 3 1/2" template to make the 4 x 4s in the Sampler. I felt the larger ones would be just too big to be able to claim it saves waste.

Can't wait to see it Mrs B! Don't worry too much about being perfect. None of us are perfect. And with practice you will get better. The process is the important part. As long as you understand the process then you can enjoy the benefit of easy steps.

Most of the time the cutting out is the step that is not as good as it could be. If you try to have a good square and not have a crooked square you will get a better result. I also make sure when I join two squares that they are straight and not crooked. These are the two sore spots for me. I have to check these and fix them if they are off. I measure and straighten each time I join squares or sets of squares.

Thanks i have saved these for another day. Great job on tut..

ann31039 03-19-2011 06:38 AM

there is a free download for a program called Open Office. you can open and save Word files, Excel. etc. it works with most of the common wordprocessing and spreadsheet files. it will open them all, let you create them and save them as whatever file you need. my new laptop came with microsoft office, but i have used open office for a coupla of years before this laptop. it is still on my netbook that i use for work and the open office lets me save as a word file to send back to my company office. works great.

CarrieAnne 03-19-2011 06:49 AM

thanks, Rhonda!

Rhonda you have got to be the most giving person I know, you have shared your plastic templates, your patterns, instructions. I am sure you get plenty of thanks, but I just wanted to put one more extra big thank you out there. Thanks so much for being such a great person.
And the baby is just adorable, I love seeing happy babies, who can't smile when they see that smiling baby.

klgreene 03-19-2011 09:14 AM

Thanks Rhonda. If I can't get back to quilting full time soon, I'm gonna go nuts. I really want to finsish the sampler so I can start on some of these other things you are coming up with. You are #1 in my book. :):):)

And who is that cute baby in your avatar?

Thank you Sue. I do appreciate all the thanks. It lets me know I am doing something right.
We are blessed with grandkids. The youngest 4 are 5 and under and I am so blessed to get to spend time with them. You just can't help but smile when you see such little ones smiling. The best feeling in the world. My youngest grand is 3 mos last Thurs and he is such a doll. He was in my avatar before Adrianna. She is actually my great grand. Her momma is my oldest granddaughter.
I will be posting Jayden soon. I have a pic of him that just makes you want to laugh out loud! He is 2 and always smiling and giggling. Also my great grand. His dad is my oldest grand Cody who is 22 now.

klgreene 03-19-2011 09:36 AM

Beautiful grand/great grand children. I can't wait to see mine next week. You are so lucky they are close.

The best part is my youngest son(Colton and twins) are moving back closer and hopefully they plan to stay there. They are 2 hrs away and they will be about a half hour away again.

How do you create a pdf file?

You should be able to
Click on print
When the page for selecting the printer to use comes up check to see if you have a pdf printer in the menu.
If you do set it for that pdf printer and click on next.
When it saves it it will be in PDF form. So save it in a file where you will remember where it is.

If you don't see a pdf printer in the menu of your printer wizard then you can download a free one online. Once you do that you can then follow the above directions.

Thanks Cheri but not really. It all comes about for me by trial and error. Lots and lots of errors! LOL I learn the hard way believe me!! LOL I am the type that has to do it first for me to figure it out. I don't learn from someone telling me. I have to see it and experience it for myself before it sticks in my mind. so I do everything by trial and error. some things work and some don't!

Thanks for the help. I don't have pdf under printer in Word, but I do see a save as option.

You can download this WORD viewer from Microsoft. It's free.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

Microsoft also has a PowerPoint viewer. The viewers will let you open the documents without having the program.

Thank you so much for making this a PDF file. Thanks for sharing.

Isnt' he tho? He is contagious! LOL He is always giggling. Jayden is my great grandson. He is 2 yrs old. I saw them in Walmart the other day and he is used to seeing my mom and I together. My mom is Grandma Dot and I am Grandma Rhonda. So I was picking on him tickling and such. And he looked at me and said Gam Dot. I said and so did his mom no this is Grandma Rhonda thinking he was confused. He looked me square in the eye and said Uh huh Gam Dot! He looked at his mom and at me Gam Dot!! I realized he was teasing me! He knew all along who I was and he was mixing them up on purpose! Little scallywag! all the time we stood there talking he would occasionally look at me with a sideways grin and say Gam Dot! He kept it up for quite awhile. He loves to tease.

I saw on FB that he got a hair cut today. So I was glad she got these pictures yesterday before the haircut!

She is 6 mos in that picture and her name is Rowan Lee. She lives way too far away from me and I try to get to see her at least every three months, finances permitting.

Rhonda, I can't get the file to download. It just comes up a black screen and says it's done.
