you can also use one of the crates that have "runners' on each side for your file box....

If you have a dresser your not using or find one at a thrift shop just divide the draws then adjust your bags to fit. You can make them wider instead of taller.

This may have already been mentioned altho I thought it would be fun to have the bags be same color as the scraps you put in it.

What a nifty idea....for those who don't have file cabinets, file totes would be a good place to hang these. (LOL, I could see myself needing a special fabric someday and attacking the scrap tote with scissors.)

Funny you should say that...I was putting the final pieces in a quilt top yesterday and just needed one more orange scrap.... As I was eyeing the bag, I found a small piece of that fabric. Might be a good idea to make bags out of something other than quilting fabric! LOL

Just wanted to say that once I saw the original post I immediately started making these bags. I had a large roll of drapery insulation fabric, Plain white, So far I've made 13 bags and still sewing, and you will never be sorry you used it, it is strictly utilitarian. You won't want it for anything else. This post came at just the right time, as I was in the middle of a fabric store explosion down stairs, and I've got it under control now. Not finished mind you, just under control. I had already used the file cabinets for hanging storage, and was looking for ways to organize scraps. Thank you Dilyn. My sewing space is a bit more utilitarian than yours, but your idea sure helped.
