I have three.

Can you post some pictures of the areas of the machine you think might not be correct?

4 things to check before you panic
Check to see if the clutch knob - the chrome knob in the middle of the balance wheel is tight.
Check to see if the feed dogs have been dropped
Check to see if the stitch length is at 0
Check to see if the pressure foot is adjusted too loosely.
You may have to look in a manual to find how to do some of those things or maybe someone will come along and spell it all out for you.

I predict that the clutch wheel washer is backwards! The tangs should point out and use your eyes to see where the stop screw engages versus the tangs in the washer. I have three of these machines. Please send me a p.m. if you need a pic.

I'm pretty sure the feed dog has been dropped (#3 on Miriam's checklist).

I'm a little surprised that so many of you have Scottish machines, though. I thought they were rare in the U.S.

The late '50s ones were half the weight but exactly the same stitch (I have two of those).

I would love to see photos of these machines. I think I saw one on eBay, but was too uninformed to bid on it.

Here's my 1955 201k. It's the lighter aluminium version which looks different because of the necessary strengthening in the neck. I'm using it to sew a jacket at the moment. This machine cost $15 last week (they're very common here).

Here is my earlier one (1936). Sold this on a while ago. The K versions all have the light at the back and motors are all external.
