The Cam Thread
#13
These are my Elna cams. They look a little different than yours KenZ. These fit a Supermatic or an Elna SU air electronic. The pics in order show the front, back, and side views of both a single and a double cam.

A couple others mentioned it would be a good idea to start a thread for cams. I think most of us already have learned the hard way that its really difficult to match up cams to a machine.
If you can, if you have cams and know which machine they go to, could you all post a picture (mugshot) of a cam from the side and from the top with a ruler for scale along with any info you have on which machine(s) it fits?
I'll go first with Singer tophat cams for 600 series Touch & Sews. they're the only type I currently own.

Sorry for the flash glare.
I measured it at 2 1/4" diameter. I believe they also work in 400 and 500 series machines and 700 series machines. 700 series machines also have a white version that doesn't work in the older machines. Please correct me if this is wrong.

The Singer Swing Needle series 206, 306, 319, and 320 also use those exact same flat cams.
The Style Mate 348 does, as well. It's a robin's egg blue machine made in the UK in (I think) the '70s.
They apparently also were used for the Singer Meritt 2430, 3130.
(So, possibly also used for other Singers made in Great Britain or Brazil.)

stitche patterns of Singer Swing Needle flat black disc cams
The 319 can do certain stitches using the levers alone, or maybe it's levers + zigzag cam. I can't remember. Consult the manual for it.

This Singer UK page lists all of the Singer cams, their part numbers, and stitch pattern name. You might want to grab a copy of that in case that web site doesn't last forever. Lists the flat discs, black top hats, white flexi-stitch top hats, flat flexi-stitch 2-pattern, "Black Top Hat Flexi-Stitch with gold print & grooved backs", and "White Flat Fashion Disc and Flexi-Stitch two patterns, reversible."
