Hi All, Well we are on a road trip.....and my husband decided he needed to go to Sears in Coos Bay, Oregon. I said, drop my off downtown, where I had spotted a bunch of antique stores. I was lucky enough to find this beautiful 301A in a trapezoid case. I paid $50 for her. She looks little grungy, but her decals are perfect, and when I opened her up, she doesn't appear to have been used much. There is a small part missing on the tension assembly, and she could use a new felt pad and bobbin wheel. I tried to determine her date, but couldn't find it on the website. Her number is NA216807. I could only find N numbers....not NA combination. Any help with that would be greatly appreciated. I am anxious to get her home and get some oil into her. I'll try to post a pic later....need help from DW to do that...and he's out at the campfire!! Thanks, M

NAs started in 1951, NBs in 1956, so yours was made between 51 and 56. I love the trapezoid cabinet, but I didn't know long beds could fit in a cabinet. April1930sshoppe.com has everything you need to replace the missing parts, so does Jenny at sew-classic.com Did you get a manual? You won't need for threading, though this machine does thread from right to left, but you will need it to take it apart and clean the bobbin area. ISMACS and sew-classic have them free for download. The Singer site does, too. The manual points out the oil spots - sewing machine oil only, and the gears that need lubrication twice a year with Singer lubricant.

IMO, she is the best piecer and the best standard size FMQer. Enjoy your new lady. BTW, that's an excellent price - half what you'd expect to pay for the machine alone. 301s are going up in price.

Oh, she's a beauty. And such a deal! Did she come with any attachments? Those 301s are, by far, my most favorite oldie. That's right, most favorite. Not to tax your tech skills much, but we'd love to see a pic of the trappy cabinet. I'm curious too, to see how it was put in the cabinet. Usually you only see short beds in cabs.

As for the upside down photo, I think you can edit it, if you log in, go to your message and look for the edit button. Then you can delete it and upload it again. HOWEVER, I think that has to be done before it is viewed by anyone else. I THINK once it's read by anyone other than you, it's kinda permanent. OTOH, you could just reply to your own message with the corrected photo AND a pic of the cabinet. That would make us all smile....

I have a 301A, longbed and would like to see the cabinet too. Nothing I have here works even the one that will hold everything else I have.

I believe she says it came in the trapezoid CASE, not cabinet. Very nice black long bed! I only have short beds, but love the 301's

Dang it, you are right, brain fade here. Trapazoid case. Yea, been looking for one of those too for mine. Think I seen a few before I got her, of course.
