I find this posted on CL last Saturday and sent off an email right away, but heard nothing, so I figured that it would be gone. I got a call from a nice lady today - when we were trying to figure out when I could see it, found out she works in the town where I live so she is going to stop by after work tomorrow to show me the machine. So if nothing really bad jumps out at me, I think I'm going to have a pretty new machine. I think it's a 99k. She used it for a conversation piece, she's not a sewer, so I don't know anything about it other than the pictures for now. Any thoughts? Anything I should look for? Is the price right?

I have no idea about price, since I live in Ireland, but she is pretty, with a lovely face plate.

Check to make sure the bobbin case is in the machine. Also make sure the knee bar is there (usually stored inside the cover); it's in the photo. Both of these items would cost additional $$$ to replace if missing.

I bought a similar machine at a garage sale for about $30, but no oil can (they are worth a little) and no accessories came with it. $50 is about top price for what is in the photo, at least where I live.

Be sure never to pick up this machine by the handle. They are heavy, and quite frequently the locks break and the machine falls. Always support it underneath.

Oh - thank you - I would probably not have thought twice about picking it up by the handle! She did say she had the knee bar - and I'm going to check for the bobbin case. Is it a big thing to replace if it's missing? She said $50 or b/o. I really love the face plate.

A bobbin case is pretty easy to order over the internet; they usually run about $30 with shipping.
