Default Elna SU sewing machine question

Has anyone had this problem with a machine? I am sewing and stop and my machine keeps on sewing. I turn the switch off and it keeps on sewing. I have to unplug the cord from the machine to get it to stop. this does not happen all the time. My Elne is 41 years old but is still in great condition. Any ideas?

Perhaps the pneumatic foot controller may be bad. Contacts on the cord bad? You might join the Yahoo Elna group for more information.

Yes. I have had that problem. It's a pain. I joined the Yahoo Elna group and someone there helped me with it. I remember I had to remove side plate where the handwheel is and put a tiny bit of vasoline on a little bitty nub of a button that was sticking. It still does it sometimes but much less often. This is the link for the group. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/...gmachines/info

I've had the foot pedal on my old Elna (c. 1966) stick, but it never kept sewing because I pounded the pedal to get it unstuck. Scary. I thought the foot pedal cord was the same plug-in to the machine as the power cord - it is on my Elna.

You turn the power switch off, and the machine keeps running? Sound like more than a stuck foot controller.

What model number of SU do uou have?

I never tried turning off the power switch. I would grab the wheel and stomp the controller. The controller puts out air pressure that presses on a tiny bladder inside the machine.
