Default Free motion on vintage white machine

Does anyone know if there is a way to lower the feed dogs in a 1949 White machine? I have quilted a little on my machine but it doesn't look the best.
Thanks

Don't know if you can lower the food dogs on that model, but you can get a face plate that covers the feed dogs.

Are you talking about a rotary or what model? On my White Rotary, it didn't lower the feed dogs. I used a spring for free motion and it did o.k. But, I have other machines I prefer for FMQing like my 301. So, I gifted my rotary to someone.

That's part of your problem. then. You need a foot for free motion or a spring. I don't believe the rotary has a FMQ foot, so you should check into universal darning springs. Good luck.
