It looks like most of that sellers machines go for abnormally high prices.

He knows how to sell. Great marketing and great pics. He shows pics of the machine torn apart for servicing to show what he did to it, and I guarantee that the pic he shows of it sewing through a leather belt helped get that price. I feel sorry for the buyer if they try to give it a steady diet of leather.

That question was discussed on the VintageSinger Yahoo group recently. IIRC, the consensus was sometime in the late 40s to early 50s. My 201-2 is a 1955 model and it doesn't have it.

She sure is gorgeous. The irons look good as does the name on the bed.
