Hand Crank Portable
Can anyone help me figure out what kind of machine this is or where I might find out? It was made in the USA, but I can't find any make or numbers anywhere. It has a carved wood case and colored decals, but the space where the mamufacturere goes is blank. Thanks. Kay

My quess it was made by National - see the round access plate on the front, but it could have been badged as any number of names. I wonder why the name spot is blank. Mine similar treadle is a Leader made by National Paveway.

After more checking we noticed the slit that goes from the wheel thru the case. It looks like it was for a belt maybe to a treadle or motor and the whole machine might have fit into a cabinet. The cover could have been to cover it on the table or to make it portable. It is very smooth and quiet.

Hello Georgia Girl,
I'm a bit worried that you say cover might make the machine portable. It doesn't. The cover is a cover. The handle is to lift the cover off. If you carry the machine by the handle of the cover you risk having the handle or cover come away in your hand and a hefty cast iron machine crashing down on your foot.
