Thank you all so much for your input. I knew this was the place to ask. I found your forum about 2 weeks ago and have been reading myself blind. I haven't bought this machine yet, but I probably will. I love the cabinet too. And I want a good old sewing machine. I have a treadle but have never used it. I can now learn how from this forum. Thanks again!

Hi everyone,
Well, no I haven't bought the machine, yet. I can't get over there to look at it myself and so I have decided until I can go then it will just have to wait. My sister doesn't know as much about sewing machines as I do, and I don't know as much as you all do. I know it might be gone, but if it is, it just wasn't meant for me. I need to get my treadle out now that I have found this forum. I am sure I can find out how to put the bobbin(or whatever it is called)in there and figure out how to make it sew. I put a new belt on it years ago, but didn't know how to wind the bobbin and load it in. It is one of the long ones. Thank you all so much for all your help.

She also has a video showing how to load the bobbin into the machine. Her video's are wonderful and her little booklet is worth buying. It was only $8 when I bought it and it was loaded with information.

I have an identical machine: Singer Style-mate 348. It was made in the 60s (I think around '67). The cabinet you have is beautiful, but i don't know if it's the original. Mine is different from yours and every 348 I've seen has a cabinet like mine. I purchased my machine second-hand for $50 too! I am hoping to find a compatible 1/4" foot for piecing; I'm a newbie at quilting and bought this machine prior to quilting.
