Smile I owned a cute black FW for all of 5 minutes!

    Here's the story

A few days ago my hubby posted a Kahr for sale. We had a buyer and met him in a public parking lot to show him the Kahr. He was a nice man and we talked and eventually got on the subject of sewing machines. He called my hubby up later that night and offered him a price $25.00 lower than we were asking and he would include his MIL's old machine for me since I liked the old ones. Didn't know what it was but he said she had only used it about three times. Hubby said it was a deal.

So we drove out to his friends home the next morning that would be handling the transaction. I went into the living room to visit with the lady of the house and leave the guys alone. A few minutes later our buyer walked out and dropped the machine at my feet in a cute little black box!!! and said here you go, and walked away. Oh Dear, Betty is a quilter and we both just sat there stunned, mouths open not saying anything!

It was a nice little FW in excellent shape. I had been given a FW that the man thought was a great bargaining tool to get hubby down another 25.00 in price for the Kahr. LOL

Betty just cringed when I told her how I had it in trade for 25.00!

I excused myself from talking to Betty and went into the room with the guys and told our buyer that I couldn't take the machine in trade. If he gave my husband the full asking price for the Kahr I would give him back the machine. He looked confused and I proceeded to explain to him what he had given away in trade for $25.00.

Needless to say he wanted it back. So hubby got his full asking price for the Kahr and I got to "caress" a little black FW for about 5 minutes.

They all thanked me profusely for my honesty and our buyer said he would make me a great deal on it when and if he wanted to sell it. His wife had never didn't want it, his kids didn't want it so he thought it was just an old unwanted junk sewing machine. I was a little sad to see her go back to him but very glad in my heart for doing what I felt was the right thing...and I do have an a adorable blushing celery FW in a beautiful turq case, so missing out on the black one only hurt for a little bit...well, maybe a little longer.

You would have felt guilty all the time you had that machine because you have a conscience! You did the right thing!

Ouch. You did the right thing but that had to be very very hard! I hope it bought you some good karma.

I'd have gone and told DH to take another $100 off the price tag of the Kahr. My DH loves machines as much as I do, so he'd have been OK with that.

Though - both our Kahrs belong to me - and I love them both too much to part with them.

However I did take a Mossberg as a part trade on a sewing machine I sold. It went to DH - and he's rather pleased with it.

Kudos to you for doing the right thing. That had to be a really hard, but it is good to hear that honesty is still being practiced out there.

What a nice thing to do. I hope you feel good. I do just by reading your story. I think you made the right choice and someone is smiling down on you.
