As far as the mechanics go, the 401 and 500 are the same internally. The differences are shape and threading pattern for the most part.

I think the stuff on top of the Boxes in the second picture is for a knee lever, but not sure, I am going to go back up and get all the rest of the machines, see what runs and what dont ,how many have feet and pedals . ETC and then sell them , and what is left will go for parts. Thanks for bearing with me on the pictures, hahah I had to rename the file etc to post, but finally made it. Meanwhile my husband had a major stroke, and now paralyzed on one side. home in a hospital bed, so my quilting is going to slow down considerably. CMARAS1234

My Mom has one of those machines! I learned to sew on it. I wish that I was getting it, but my dear sister gets it. She doesn't have a working machine and I do. I am really happy for my sis, wish I could clone it

    CMARAS1234, and others,

A request. Please reduce the size of your photos to something like 640x480 or 800x600. At that size they are more than clear enough for the internet, and those of us on dial up can see them. This is the fourth time I've tried to see the pics on this thread and I simply cannot. They are so large that with a half dozen trying to load at once, they simply either will not load or take forever.

A comment on discussing selling things on the open forum: DON'T. If you discuss selling machines or parts you risk getting your thread deleted because it is against forum rules. Take those discussions off the forum. Don't ask me how I know this .

I'm not trying to be a know it all or a pushy old phart, just trying to be helpful.
