Default KAYanEE toy machine, need info.

Good Morning, Just purchased a little beauty in a bentwood case yesterday. Does anyone have any information about these? Mine is beige, battery operated, doesn't work but the hand crank turns. Made in Germany, Berlin US.

I think it is a chain stitch. http://www.ehow.com/how_7159976_sing...tructions.html they likely work about the same.

Thanks, I will check out that website, I think it must be also, there is no space for a bobbin thread. Update, it works. DH cleaned the battery connections, all it needs is a little oil and I think it will be fine.

You are right Miriam. Not much at all. I thought the little hole in the front might be for a presser foot, but it was for a table clamp. There is no needle, it looks like the hole is round not U shaped, are there round sewing needles?

Very cute. According to Singer Sewing Info your Kayanee uses 12x1 or 15x1 (common household needle). If the 15x1 is too big to fit in the needlebar I'd try the 12x1 which has a small round shank.

Thanks jlhmnj, that's a terrific website, I've added it to my favorites so I can look at it closer. I am going to be on the lookout for these toys since this one was such a lucky find.

Thanks rogequilter for the comment on the top. I either found that pattern here or on pintrest It's either called swallows or blackbirds. As you can see its a drunkard' path variation with an appliqued circle (head). Not photo yet, I am waiting to quilt it. I'll post when it's done.
