    Default Kenmore Man and all others
    I purchase a really nice 1581942 Kenmore with a cabinet in very good condition and was using for the first time, went to fill the bobbin and the bobbin spindle would not turn. It sews well, but filled the bobbin using a dif machine. What could I look for. Thanks for your suggestions.

    IIRC, take the top off, look at the bobbin spindle to see if the rubber tire is shot, Thats about all it could be

    Or the spindle is froze-up with gummed-up oil. Can you spin it with your fingers?

    the 1842 I bought in July needed a new rubber tire for the bobbin winder, it literally broke into dust. ordered it. attached it and was good to go.

    Kenmore bobbin winders do tend to freeze up. You will need to shoot the friction points with some solvent and replace the tire.
