    Jim,

First remove dead blow hammer from the vicinity of your sewing machines. Then lay in a supply of TRI-FLOW oil. When something like that hand wheel is stuck it's usually the old oil that's gummed up and created a bind or glue.

If you can braze you should be able to fix both the collar and the treadle frame. Matter of fact I have two treadle frames that need brazing repair too, and I don't have the skill to do it.

Go for it. What do you have to lose?

yep, my thoughts too. I do silver brazing at work. If it goes okay, I'll get back to you. (brass and copper and stainless is my gig)
