Boy, do I understand completely about the eyesight. I had catarac surgery in my left eye, and still have one in my right eye. The worst thing though is that I see better out of my right eye with my glasses on than I do the left eye.
I seem to be one of the few people that grow scar tissue which has played havoc with my left eye. The eye doc says he can fix it, but I haven't gone back yet...woe is me..

You probably already know this, but in case you don't or for others that might not be aware, place something white behind your needle when you are trying to thread it, it really helps to see the eye of the needle better...

Louise is a sister to Clara! That's my machine - She originally was grandma's who made and sold lady's corsets farm to farm back then. I learned to sew on her and the only reason I replaced her was to get a zigzag stitch. Now I have a Pfaff 1222 workhorse (just fixed up) and a Janome 4800. You will love her - the stiches are perfect and she just hums.

I am so impressed that these older machines are sewing. I have my mothers Singer which she purchased probably the early to mid-50s. It is a tannish grey and must have been a special mother/daughter item, because I had a crank metal machine just like hers, I think I still have it packed away. I am going to have to dig out my mother's machine, it is in a beautiful sewing table, I remember it being beautiful dark wood. I know my little machine is missing some parts, maybe I can find someone who would take a look at it and see if they could repair. But, yours is beautiful and it looks like to got a great buy. Sally

I love it! That is the Singer model on which I learned to sew. Brings back good memories.

Louise is the sister of the machine I learned to sew on! You will absolutely love her. I did not realize how wonderfully perfect her stitching was until I 'graduated' to newer machines with all the bells and whistles and did not have her around anymore. I hope someday to find another like her. Enjoy!
