My first Singer machine
#1
I had been watching several Featherweights and 301's on E-Bay but they were so expensive, as well as the shipping costs plus I really wanted to "see" what I was buying up close and personal. So I went to Craigs List and found listings for 3 possibles. They weren't Featherweights but they were vintage. I made appointments and went to see all three Saturday. The first two were real duds but the last was a treasure. I got the machine in the cabinet, all the attachments, two manuals, the buttonholer with templates and 50 assorted Singer needles for only $50. The machine was purchased new in 1948 by the sellers great aunt and you can tell it was well taken care of. So I have named her "Louise" after the original owner. She is only 4 years younger than me so we can age gracefully together!! And she sews like a dream!!

You will love louise. My friend has the same one and absolutely loves her. She did go crazy with machine quilting so now her main machines are a Vikings, but she still uses her old faithful singer too. The thing about the featherweight they are a great little light, consistent machine that can be taken with you, that is the main difference from the one you purchased and the featherweight. Louise is a great find.
Have fun and congrats.

After reading the manual I learned that I can lower the feed dogs and free motion quilt also. Something else to play with. Another bonus is that my short shank feet will work with her. Can you tell how excited I am lol.

Congratulations on your getting your first Singer, "Louise".
She looks beautiful. :!: :)
I love the old machines. Their stitches are so straight and they just hum.
Well, now on to your second, third, etc. Your baby needs a sister!
You will love her!
