Well, spent a little time oiling and cleaning today (about an hour). She's humming like a top, everything spins like it should. I think as soon as I get a belt for it (and a few other parts), I'll be able to sew on it. I still can't believe how clean it is for a machine of this age!

It gets adctive, started out with Grandmother Helen's 201-3 bought in early 1950, and have bought two tredels but have NO room for more so don't even look right now.

I started with a "Minnesota" just because I thought it would be cool to have the state name on a machine. I am on my 4th treadle refurb and I can't seem to stop. My family wants to know what i am going to do with them.

if you are having trouble finding a leather belt and do not want to wait for an online purchase, you can use silicon aquarium tubing (walmat,,etc) works great as a temp. I use them for "in reprocess" machiens because they stretch on and off easily.

Well folks, I guess it's official. I'm a treadler. My machine is running like a top. I was able to coordinate my hands and feet yesterday and actually sewed a few seams. The tension was good and the stitches are even. What fun!

tell me about it. it's sure is so addictive. i started with a singer 16-188 and have not look back or better yet have not stopped looking at CL or anywhere i can get my hand at an antique sewing machines. now i also got a 99K (aluminum edition), a 201-2, 221-2, 28K, 15-91, 301A, and a 15-88 (my first treadle). and passed on a $20 white rotary in a nice cabinet. looking at a singer 66K in a bentwood case but thinking if i should get it (do i really need it).
